CTEC Program Advisory Board, January 16
The EBR Career & Technical Education Center hosted its first combined Program Adivsory and Business Advisory Board meetings for 2019. We had over 40 medical, business and industry professionals join us.
Having a consistent and involved advisory board is critical for the success of industry based training programs. Key insights and trends are often provided to the instructors and the administration during these meetings.
We have had several members volunteer to chair the advisory boards for the next school year. The role of the chair is to facilitate the meetings (2 more for 2019) and to help recruit speakers, tours and general support for their division. Board members offered suggestions of internships and job shadowing opportunities, offered support for the upcoming HOSA Leadership conference and the Hack-A-Thon, and asked about adding a variety of courses as electives to meet their workforce needs.
The Business Advisory Board meeting also met during this time where discussion revolved around summer preparatory courses, instructor qualifications and transportation.
The next Advisory Board meeting is set for June 5.
